slightly alarming autographs

Today was kind of funny (my mom would say gross, I say historical).

I told you I'd sent the cover of Fahrenheit 451 to Ray Bradbury after I sent R is for Rocket. I received the envelope back today and it was a little alarming looking:

Apparently poor Mr. Bradbury had an incident with something sharp and bled all over the place while handling my materials. Or else he thought I was a fan of Twilight and wanted to share. In the midst of his injury he did manage to sketch me a little caricature of himself. Blood won't stop Ray Bradbury!

Inside the envelope, more evidence of Mr. Bradbury's injury. At first I was a little dismayed and my mom was grossed out, but then I realized this is the DNA of Ray Bradbury! Who else has this besides him and his doctor and family members? So I like it now, lol. I just hope I don't read about something serious having happened to him because then I'll feel like I distracted him from going to the hospital.

And further proof that he's awesome, he sent me this little postcard, which reads, Me at 3 (and a dash of blood to make it a cohesive collection).

I bought a Vegas postcard which I will send him in return, thanking him for his endless generosity. However I will not be sending along my DNA.

Edit:

I forgot to mention that I contacted Iron Chef French, Hiroyuki Sakai! I hope I get something from him.

YES!! You will love it more than you love whatever you think you love most. Good choice!

Hmm... it looks a little red still to be blood. Perhaps it's jam?

I work in a laboratory with blood and the thought of that blood, even dry, all over the place... *shudders*

I don't know what to think of that LOL. I'm surprised the post office still handled it!

I'm guessing they didn't know what it was? I mean, I could be completely wrong, but... I don't think so, lol.

That's the most hilarious thing ever *lol* Especially since it's on all three items! He din't even stop to get a bandaid.

[info]sakurazero's comment reminds me of another hilarious incident. A friend of mine (in the US) got a package from another friend containing a jar of blackberry(?) jam. The jar had broken in transit, sparking a near terror-alert state at her local post office. The police got involved and she was lifted from her house and escorted to the post office to vouch for the package.

Holy cow! I guess I got lucky I wasn't escorted by the police to pick this up, lol.

Mr. Bradbury is so dedicated to his fans that not even injury could stop him:D

Hehe, he is a trooper, that Mr. Bradbury.

I would be more frightened by this if he wasn't old enough to be my grandpa (I think).

Sakai seems like the nicest guy. I hope he responds. I really want to get all the Japanese Iron Chefs.

For the blood is the life!
Just think, if they ever perfect cloning, you could send in the package and they could resurrect Mr. Bradbury from the bloody samples. Given the science fiction stories he's famous for, I think it would please him.

You don't want to know how many times I've re-watched the Chris Pine parts.
